Sammy Angstman: Organist, Joyful Noise Director, Music Director
Sammy is currently working towards her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at Stony Brook University, where she received her Master of Music in Piano Performance last May. She received her B.M. in Piano Performance from New England Conservatory in 2013.
Sammy is a recipient of Stony Brook's Staller Scholar Award, and studies with Christina Dahl and Gilbert Kalish. She is active as an accompanist and chamber musician, performing in the school’s Baroque Ensemble, in a piano-woodwind quintet coached by Pedro Diaz, Ann Ellsworth, Frank Morelli, and Christina Dahl, and accompanying multiple graduate student recitals and juries per year. In addition to her performance studies at Stony Brook, Sammy has been working for the school as a Teaching Assistant in a variety of roles: she currently teaches a keyboard skills class, has taught private lessons to undergraduates, served as an accompanist, and was the Coordinator for the music department's annual Piano Project in 2014 and 2015. Sammy is also an active teacher outside of Stony Brook, teaching at Great Neck Music Conservatory and maintaining a private studio in the Stony Brook area.
